Nothing new?

I don't really feel like I have anything too interesting to blog about but feel like I better blog about SOMETHING....

I am not going to post about our current weather situation because frankly too many people make it such a big deal that we have a snow storm in Spring.  And I keep thinking about how a little snow isn't so bad when there are other people going through such worse circumstances.  Like Stellan for instance and his mommy and daddy and siblings.  I can't imagine one of my precious little one's in the hospital fighting for their lives.  It brings tears to my eyes to think of them and all the thousand's of other families going through such struggles.

I am not going to post about work because it is just work.  There are good days and bad days.  Busy days and slower days.  Oh wait, I do want to post about my work.  We are all feeling like we do need a bit of something to celebrate so we decided that this week was Spring Fling.  Today we dressed up to support our schools, tomorrow is royalty day (or wanna be royalty), and Thursday is Hawaiian Day and we will have a salad potluck lunch.  Kind fun don't ya think!?
I asked my supervisor if she thought it would inappropriate to wear my coconut shells that my sister bought for me when they were in Hawaii 2 years ago.  She thought it wouldn't go over very well.  DANG, I don't have anything else Hawaiian.  Guess I will have to bribe my 8 year old to see if she will make me a lea (okay, I have no idea how to spell that!!  Oh well,  I am too tired to care much).

I will post about how when I was leaving our daycare today I got stuck in her short driveway and it took us a 1/2 hour to get me out!  I was slippin and slidin all over and she had to get her shovel and dig me out and PUSH my van.  It was actually quite comical.  Thanks Denise!!!

Hubby has his day off tomorrow and is home with the boys.  I love Wednesday mornings (use to be Tuesdays until they switched his day off).  It seems so much less stressful when I am only getting myself and one other child off for the day.  Then tomorrow evening we have Magik Mike coming to our Awana club for a Family Fun Night.  Ice cream sundaes afterwards.  Yummy.

Thursday night is Kindergarten Round Up for Thing 2 (Connor).  I can't believe he is going to be in Kindergarten this coming Fall.  In some ways I am SO ready for him to be and in others I just want him to stay in preschool and not grow up.  I would say that this week I have been SO much more emotional than I have been in quite some time.

Oh, oh, oh.  I have to remember to try to post some pictures tomorrow of our fun in the snow today!!  Poor Connor.  I couldn't find his snowpants anywhere (Losing stuff momentarily in our house is NOTHING NEW!) so he had to wear Macy's snowmobiling outfit from when she was like 4!!  It is pink/magenta and about 4 inches too short in the arms and legs.  He looked so darn cute.  But the minute he walked outside, his not so nice sister laughed at him and said "your wearing pink!"  I scolded her and told Connor to just tell her "real men wear pink".  He was totally fine with wearing the outfit.  He did not care at all.  In fact he made sure I put the hood on it so he could wear that too!  What a great kid.  I hope as he gets older he hangs onto his confidence.

Anyway, I better get to bed.  Keep praying for baby Stellan.  His mommy was on the 10 p.m. news tonight on KSTP 5.  I watched it and I had tears in my eyes during the whole thing!!  She is going to post the video on her blog as soon as it becomes available.  You can click on Stellan's picture to the right to visit her blog.

Sleep will feel nice tonight!

Morning started out fine today.  I got the 2 older kids on the bus and Griffin to daycare and I even got to work on time!

I have to pick up Connor from pre-school at 12:00 and then drive him to daycare.  I am usually late.  I notice the time while I am working about 11:20-11:30 and think to myself "don't forget to pick up Connor."  So what do you know the next time I look at the clock it is 12:05!!  Good thing I am only 2 blocks away from the school.

Well today was and exception I left work to get him at 11:55!!  Mark it on the calendar.  I went into the building and he was waiting in his classroom.   As I walked in I said "Hey Connor mommy is here and not even late!"  At that same time his teacher was handing him a sticker so I said "Connor, what do you say?"  (Expecting a "thank you" to his teacher.)  No....he said to me "Congratulations mom!"  I laughed so hard.  That was awesome!!

After work I went to pick up the kids from daycare.  Griffin runs up to me and is dressed in a pink and black dance costume.  Like a long sleeved leotard with a skirt on it!!  He was so proud.  I tried to take it off of him and he through a fit so our daycare lady let us borrow it for then night and he wore it to the grocery store!  I don't think dad was impressed when I told him about it.

So after the grocery store I got the kids and 3 bags of my 5 into the house.  As I am going back out to the van to get the last 2 bags a lady drives up from a local phone, cable, internet company and wants to sell me her products!!  I wanted to say "NO" because I JUST got home after work, after picking up the kids from daycare, after going to the grocery store and I just wanted to make supper and get us all settled for the night.  But of course I didn't say "no".  Instead I invited her into my home that is an ABSOLUTE mess right now.  I have a basket of clean laundry (at least it is clean) on my couch, the kids pj's are on the living room floor from when they took them off this morning and didn't put them where they need to go.  I have jackets on the floor, and the list could go on.  She was so sweet and told me she understood and that she raised 4 boys!!  I think she was just being nice because she could see how frazzled I was.  Needless to say I bought her products tonight.  I am an easy sell.  Although, I did call my husband to get his input and he was all for it.

Whew, as soon as she left I put the groceries away and started supper.  It is kind of funny, I swear Connor has a radar that tells him exactly when I am going to starting cooking because he is pulling up a chair to the counter/stove ready to help.  He is my little chef.  He LOVES to cook with me.  One day he just stood at my spice drawer and was opening up all the spices and smelling them and asking me what they were!  I  use to not like the kids to cook with me, to much of a control freak, but God is changing my heart in that area and is blessing Connor and I with some fun 1 on 1 time.  I actually enjoy seeing his interest and wanting to help.

Well, Michael is at Worship Team practice - he is the drummer for our church worship team - and I need to get some laundry done and get the children to bed.  Then I am off to bed where I will crash and hopefully sleep soundly for the next 8 hours!!  YAY!!

Happy Friday tomorrow!  I love my weekends!!

Prayer Request

Please pray for baby Stellan!!  While still in his mother's womb he was diagnosed with SVT which is a heart issue.  God healed him and he was born with not a sign of heart issues.  2 nights ago, his mommy took him to the ER with respiratory issues from being sick over the weekend and he ended up in SVT again.  Please pray for his heart rate to drop to a normal rhythm and to stay normal!!!  Please pray for his mommy and daddy as they are trying to rely on GOD to give them peace in this situation.  You can visit his mommy's blog by clicking here.

Here is to me - being real!!

Okay, so I have to laugh (a little) when my 8 year old daughter comes up to me and says "mom, can you please pay the TV bill?  The TV isn't working!"  Oops, guess I forgot to pay that one!  Most of my bills are set up to be automatically withdrawn from my account.  Except the TV bill.  I think that I will have to switch that to auto pay today!!  We will see.

I am having a little bit of a crabby day today and trying to change my attitude!!  I am tired and yet see all of the things I need and want to do tonight.  I am slowly running out of time to do them.  I wonder what would motivate me to get them done!!

Is it wrong to have cold cereal for supper?  It is quick and somewhat nutritional.

Oh, this is funny...So I am am picking up my kids from daycare and I sit down to wait for the children to finish making their window clings and my daughter (the same 8 year old who told me to pay the TV bill) comes up to me and asks "mom are you going to have a baby?"  I of course think she is saying this because of my weight or something and I ask "why are you asking that?"  To which she replies "I don't know I just want a baby sister.  Just love daddy more so we can have a baby.  Buy him a dvd every night or something!"  Oh honey, if it were that easy we would have 20 children by now :)  Needless to say we are in baby mode in our house again.  We are all missing that baby stage.  Especially with our baby turning 2 and learning new words like "NO" everyday!!

Well, I am off to do dishes or laundry or make supper or all of the above!!

Blessings,

A New Challange for Myself

I am going to try to post at least 2-3 times a week for a while to see if I can get into it better.  We will see how I do.  :)

Today I sent my youngest child to daycare with a very low grade temp (99.9).  Last night I noticed a funny little rash on his tummy and back.  I was thinking that it could possibly just be heat rash or something.  There was another little guy at daycare who had strep throat about a week and a half ago.  So the thought did cross my mind that it could be strep.  So last night when I got home from Awana at church I checked out the Mayo Clinic website on Strep Throat and Scarlet Fever.  When Griffin woke up with the low grade temp this morning my mama instincts told me it was probably strep.  So I very firmly yet hopefully politely insisted that I see our doctor today.  The reception gal at the clinic did not want to let me squeeze my way into his already busy day.  I have the best doctor and will not see another one unless I ABSOLUTELY have too.  Well today was no exception.  I got to see him.  He took one look at the rash and knew right away that it was strep.  The VERY red throat and accelerated heart rate confirmed his thoughts.  So my lovely little boy gets to take antibiotics for the next 10 days.

He really is in pretty good spririts.  Although right now he is laying on the dining room floor playing with the fan on the Pixo's machine.

The 2 older children are outside enjoying the 30 something degree weather.  Still not warm enough for my liking but way better than below zero weather!!  I did hear today that Saturday is suppose to have a high of 60 something!!!  YAY.  We like spring.  I feel like we are stuck away in buildings all Winter long and we sprout and blossom like the flowers and trees when Spring comes around.  It is kind of funny because we don't see our neighbors much at all during the Winter and then all of a sudden when it gets nice outside we start coming out of our hibernation!!

Well, I suppose I better get going.  I think supper is going to be cooked by the local DQ tonight and I told my daughter that I would watch her on her scooter.

He's growing up

My youngest turned 2 on March 2nd and boy is he growing up. I was just watching him play with the dog and it is fun to see how much fun he was having. When we got our schnoodle "Corky" in October Griffin was terrified of him. After he lost his fear he turned his aggression towards Corky. He would pull his tail and hit him. Tonight he
was actually playing with Corky. It was so cute to watch him and hear his giggle.

Another way that I can see that he is growing is that he is putting 2 words together when he talks. He saw his daycare lady's car and said "Nisee's Car". He saw big sister's messy hair tonight after her bath and he said "Macy's Hair". He picked up the dolly nuk and said "baby nuk".

Two of Griffin's favorite sayings right now are "uh-ah". It is his way of saying "No" and he says it all the time. He also says "yeah". He LOVES motorcycle's. He calls them "bachoobye".

He is my sweet little strong willed Griffin. One instance of his strong willed personality (or just being 2) was when we tried to put him to bed last night. We had given him a bar (like a nutri-grain bar) but he wouldn't eat it he was just carrying it around. So we tried to take it from him and he would not have it. "UH-AH" So we told him to eat it. "UH-AH" So we compromised and we put his bar in a ziploc bag and gave it back to him and he took it to bed with him and slept with it!!! All was well in his world when he got to sleep with his bar. Crazy little one.

Goodnight my dear little Griffin! My big 2 year old.

Productive Day

Today has been a very productive day. Until now that is. A friend of mine came over to help me go through bedrooms. We were able to get through my daughter's room and mine and Michael's room. I got rid of 1 1/2 garbage bags of clothes from our room!! YAY! Our room is now back to the sweet haven it was meant to be. It is always much more fun to do this sort of thing when someone is there with you. At least that is how I feel. Some of you may prefer to do it by yourself.

The only bad thing about sorting today is that I haven't even been outside to enjoy the MN Thaw. I see that the snow is melting like crazy.

The kids have been pretty good today. They have stayed in front of the babysitter (TV) most of the day. I think it is time to get them away from that thing.

My hubby got home from work about 20 minutes ago and is dealing with a sick stomach. We are hoping it was just from some ibuprofen that upset his tummy.

I better cut this short hubby is still feeling sick!
Take care everyone,
Tonia
